European Democrats welcome Emmanuel Macron's re-election
This Sunday 24 April, French citizens re-elected in the second round of the presidential election, Emmanuel Macron for a second term, making him the first president of the French Republic to be re-elected since Jacques Chirac in 2002.
European Democrats welcomed his re-election, including our Secretary General and MEP, Sandro Gozi: "This victory of Macron makes hope triumph over fear. It is the France of universal values that wins tonight against decline and nationalism. Macron had announced that this election".
Matteo Renzi, leader of our Italian member said: "Congratulations to President Macron. An overwhelming victory, a beautiful page of hope for France and for Europe. Proud to be with him since the beginning"
Frédéric Petit, Deputy Secretary General, said that this is a "great relief for our France and our Europe! "
