German EDP member Free Voters (Freie Wähler) hosted a 10-hour digital special party conference on 27 February. and adopted Bundestag election programme: The power of the centre. Federal elections will be organised this autumn.

In his opening speech, Hubert Aiwanger, Free Voters  Federal Chairman, Deputy Prime Minister of Bavaria and Bavarian Minister of Economic Affairs, Regional Development and Energy, emphasised the need for his party to have a say at federal level: "We have proven that we make excellent policies in Bavaria. We want to continue this in Berlin. Especially in these crazy times, we stand for sensible politics. Unlike other parties, we  have learned politics from scratch. For decades, we have been taking on responsibility in the interest of the citizens in cities and municipalities all over Germany as mayors, district councillors and councillors. Based on this long experience, we also want to promote social cohesion at the federal level and strengthen Germany for the future. Our perspective is the reasonable centre. This is our burr gauge in times when more and more ideology prevail, from one extreme to the other. Instead of a black-green alliance this fall, we need a civic centre."

The adopted election programme focuses on the issues of national hydrogen, a future-oriented pension reform, the strengthening of regional economic cycles as well as the preservation of rural agriculture and the creation of new incentives for sustainable forestry.
