Inauguration of the first female president in Georgia's history, Salome Zurabishvili

Mikel Burzako and Irakli Kobakhidze, chairperson of the Georgian Parliament

With Georgian Dream, a party that supported Salome Zurabishvili, Georgia will preferentially look towards the European Union.

Mikel Burzako, member of the Political Council of the European Democratic Party and representing Andoni Ortuzar, Vice-President of the European Democratic Party, attended the inauguration of Salome Zurabishvili, President-elect of Georgia and first female President of Georgia, on 16 December in Telavi.

Salome Zurabishvili was Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, coordinator of the Group of Experts attending the United Nations Security Council and the Iran Sanctions Committee and independent member of the Parliament of Georgia. The Georgian Dream Party shares a clear and unequivocal Europeanist conviction. In this sense, the Georgian Dream could play an important role in the coming years as a reference political party and as a mediator on European issues for this country.
