The abolition of roaming fees is a major step for the creation of a telecom single market

On 15 June 2017, the roaming charged by the mobile phone operators when travelling in Europe will be abolished. A decision more than welcomed by the European Democrats rejoice, starting with Dominique Riquet.

 

"The digital market's fragmentation is an obstacle to growth and investment," said the French MEP. The abolition of roaming fees is a "major step for the creation of a telecom single market in Europe".

 

The chair of the parliamentary Intergroup on long-term investments #Invest4Future commended the work of the European Parliament, particularly the ALDE group, to overcome the “Member States’ reluctance", having for consequences a two-years delay for the European consumer.
