European Democrats participating in the EMI Federal Assembly

On 7 and 8 November, EDP treasurer Jean Marie Beaupuy, accompanied by Mihai Sebe and Jose-Maria Etxebarria, participated in the Federal Assembly of the European Movement International held in Helsinki, Finland.

The Federal Assembly, as well as the fringe event entitled "The Future of Europe: the legacy of the Finnish EU Presidency", highlighted the challenges of the contemporary world that we must face while maintaining the hope and obligation to support European values.

In a complicated global context, the values that unite the Member States of the European Union represent a hope for the peoples of the whole world, European humanism being once again a global standard.

Europe must provide pragmatic responses to all major global challenges (climate, war, terrorism, trade, economy, etc.)

In this context, the new European Commission, the European Parliament and the Council must be the new forces that bring solutions and hope to European citizens.

The European Democratic Party wants and must inspire a new political constellation whose objective is to get Europe back on track because Europe needs a profound democratic refoundation.

It is up to us to share with the citizens the European dream that we have. We who are bearers of the values of respect for human dignity, the rule of law, freedom, equality, solidarity and responsibility.

These values are embodied in our societies through pluralism, non-discrimination, tolerance, respect for national and linguistic minorities, equality between men and women, and investment in youth and education.
